Questions

Common questions.

What rating do you build APFC panels to?
Up to 500 kVAR, in a compartmentalised modular design, with contactor or thyristor switching.
How does an APFC panel save money?
It corrects the plant power factor towards the target value, which reduces reactive power demand and the associated penalty on the electricity bill.
Do I need detuned reactors?
Where the supply carries significant harmonics, yes. We select detuned reactor and capacitor combinations to suit the power system rather than fitting capacitors alone.
What happens when the plant runs on DG supply?
The panel disconnects capacitor steps automatically during DG feeding, which protects the generator from leading power factor.
